Data Anlytics has become essential in digitized companies, which from macro-management to operational functions need to make appropriate decisions based on reliable information.
In the context of the Internet of Things – where the great pervasiveness of connected objects involves the generation of large amounts of data – all issues related to data collection and analysis are amplified. Having an automated IoT Data Analytics system – which intelligently processes Big Data but also performs sophisticated analysis in real-time – therefore becomes essential to fully exploit the enormous potential of data in Internet of Things applications.

The way forward in Italy towards the smart factory
The digital transformation applied to industrial companies allows the exchange of information in real time between customers, factories and suppliers. It also allows the creation of an integrated and optimized production flow according to customer needs with positive effects on the entire value chain.
However, if in general large companies have projects underway for the adoption of innovative technologies, also exploiting the expected tax benefits in terms of innovation and respect for the ecosystem, small and medium-sized companies have to deal with various internal weaknesses: from corporate culture to governance and also a change of strategy development.

The new technological frontier for interconnected IoT services
Digital transformation means that business applications are increasingly data generators and in particular in the IoT area, the amount of data collected through sensors connected to the network is constantly increasing, thus requiring sufficiently performing performance in order to make efficient and effective their very function.
Solutions with an Edge approach move towards the peripheral part of the IoT infrastructure – where data is increasingly generated – critical functions, such as those related to real-time processing of data, their aggregation and security, thus overcoming the problems related to bandwidth limitations and latency time typical of cloud infrastructures.
It is consequently an important component of IoT infrastructures in cases where a timely and autonomous response from devices is required, such as in the field of mobility to manufacturing, but not only.

Approaches and best practices along the entire IoT supply chain
The security of the IoT world is often associated with the need to protect the connections between physical devices and the network. This is certainly one of the perspectives with which to look at security in the context of the Internet of Things, but it is not the only one neither the most important. The purpose of implementing IoT solutions is to transform a myriad of disconnected data into information that allows you to control the solution adopted and improve it thanks to timely and punctual decisions.
This involves the need to ensure security throughout the IOT supply chain, from the raw data to the resulting information, to the implementation of any changes. It is therefore a question of securing data, systems and connections with different characteristics and complexities.
The proposed session therefore examines the different security aspects that affect an IoT project starting from how to guarantee the protection of connections but, also and above all, how to guarantee the integrity, confidentiality and availability of data at every stage of the life cycle of the project itself.
